Advent Project

The Advent Project this year will involve two areas:

  • Donating socks and suds (soap, shampoo, conditioner) to the Shepherds of Good Hope and students in need

  • We Scare Hunger Food donations for schools in need

The Shepherds of Good Hope is the largest not-for-profit organization dedicated to the needs of the homeless and impoverished in the city of Ottawa.  It was founded 30 years ago, and today, over 1600 people come through their doors each day.  Some people look for a hot meal from the soup kitchen; others seek clothing from the clothing program while some people are looking for a friendly ear to listen.

Please donate the following items:

  • Toiletries such as shampoos, conditioners, soaps, deodorants, toothpastes and toothbrushes for children and adults

  • Men, women and children's seasonal new or gently used (clean) clothing including shoes, mittens, gloves, scarves, hats

  • New or gently used (clean) linens, blankets and towels

  • Non-perishable food donations (snacks, juice boxes, canned items)

If you are able to donate any of the above items, please send them to school with your child. Each classroom will have their own classroom stocking based on the story “A Stocking for Jesus” that they will fill with their donations. Materials will be picked up by The Shepherds of Good Hope organization during the third week of December.
